Eight day cycle ride from Paris to Nice:
Following on from a successful Lands End to John O-Groats ride 2 years ago,
Mike and fellow cyclist, Chris Martin, set off on a Paris to Nice challenge in June 2012.
The ride consisted of two 4-day legs: firstly Paris to Geneva – and then from Geneva
down to Nice. On average 100 miles were covered per day but the toughest cycling
was in the high Alps when some days followed Tour de France routes. In the process
Mike and Chris raised over £10,000 for CLIC Sargent – a charity supporting children
and young people suffering from cancer and their families. Mike’s wife, Janet, flew down
to Nice to meet him on the finish line before they both caught a ferry to Corsica for a
much needed rest.
